About us
We are the self-proclaimed ‘fibre specialists’ and actually that’s a great starting point to tell you how we came to be. All brands have their start-up stories, but for us – it really was all about fibres.
I started The Cashmere Centre back in 1999 and while that began with pashminas – it quickly grew to feature the finest cashmere fibres available in sweaters, cardigans and more. While I wanted to keep that brand strictly to cashmere I was aware that there are so many other fabulous natural fibres, it seemed a shame when we have such a talented in-house designer and a manufacturer who we knew could be doing so much more for us not to use those skills.
And so, James Alexander Clothing was created in 2012, as a sister brand to The Cashmere Centre, offering alternative luxury fibres as well as cashmere. We offer Mohair, Alpaca, Merino and some of our own unique blended fibres such as Yashino and Almerino.
Of course, it’s not just about the fibres, I’m as passionate about the designs and the colours we select as I am about ensuring we only use the finest quality yarns that we can find. We still design all our knitwear in-house so it’s exclusive to us and not to be found anywhere else.
It’s also important to let a brand develop and grow, so today, as well as our huge selection of knitwear pieces for women and men, we also source coats, jackets, handbags and much more to complement our collections beautifully.
I may be biased, but I also believe that we have the best team to help deliver on our promise of providing first class customer service. We’re a small, friendly team based in farm buildings in the Buckinghamshire countryside. We have a dedicated phone team on hand to take calls, whether that’s someone ringing to place an order or if they have some questions. It seems harder and harder these days to speak to a ‘real’ person but I feel strongly about putting you - our customers, at the very heart of our business, which means having someone available to talk to and that will never change.
We are extremely proud of all the positive comments from our customers on our products, the in-depth knowledge of our team and also the service that they have come to expect from us.
